2017 in the spotlight

TOPS had a fabulous year. We kicked off with a Barn Dance in March which members thorough enjoyed and it raised much needed funds for the Society. Following this, members performed a wonderful concert at Central Church, Torquay. A Night in Vienna was a huge success and a sell out. With support from Newton Abbot Orchestra, the audience was truly transported to Vienna. Under the Baton of our Musical Director Rob Young, the music was inspired and members performed various songs which were captivating.

In May, some members were able to attend Exeter Pride to not only support the event but to advertise our production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

TOPS celebrated its 120th year with a stunning Four Seasons Ball at The Palace Hotel in July. It was a super night with music, live entertainment and plenty of dancing.

During September TOPS held a Macmillan Coffee Morning. This was held at Heart of Torbay who provided the tea/coffee and accommodated all who attended. We raised £300 and was a huge success. Our thanks to all who supported and to Sharon Nelson from Heart of Torbay for her hospitality.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert was launched in October and WOW!! What a show. It was a party every night. The audiences were amazing and we received a standing ovation at every performance. This show was a challenge for all involved but incredibly memorable.
TOPS have been nominated for a Noda award – Best Musical and we have won a Noda achievement award – now that’s FABULOUS.

In December, TOPS members came together for our annual Xmas Card exchange and quiz. Another brilliant social event with much fun had by all.
